The Calvin College Knights are proud to officially announce the commitment of Jakob Panzer.

Jakob joins the Knights after serving as team Captain of Tomahawk High School and earning a spot on the All Great Northern Conference Honorable Mention team.  He posted 16 goals and 8 assists in just 19 games to lead his team in scoring.  He has played both forward and defenceman and has earned team Offensive and Defensive MVP’s.

Head Coach Mike Petrusma had this to say about Jakob and his commitment to the Knights:

“I had a great feeling after meeting with Jakob that we are bringing in another player that can lead by example in how he conducts himself.  He’s a versatile player that we will likely try at both positions and he’s definitely a team first guy.  I’m confident that he will help push this program in the right direction by hard work and dedication.”

Why did Jakob choose Calvin?

“Calvin was the first college I toured and immediately I loved the atmosphere created by the student body but hated the weather.  When I toured other colleges I could not find another campus where I truly felt like I would enjoy living there, even though I would have enjoyed the weather.  Other major factors included in my decision were a Christian education and the ability to continue my hockey career.”
