The Calvin College Knights are proud to officially announce the commitment of Killian Quinn.

Killian had 6 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie with a .911 SV% for Hopkins High School in Minnesota last season and will now look to compete for the Knights in the upcoming season.  The highlight of last season for Killian was a 53 save effort against Class A state champions, Hermantown to force a 3-3 tie.

Head Coach Mike Petrusma had this to say about Killian and his commitment to the Knights:

“I’m excited to see what Killian can bring to our program.  He did very well when he came to skate with us and showed a lot of poise.  He’ll have every opportunity to continue to improve while working with our goalie coach throughout next season as well.  I expect Killian to come in and push our other goalies and to compete right away.”

Why did Killian choose Calvin?

“I chose Calvin for several reasons.  The hockey program stood out to me above other programs due to the League finish of #1 for the 2015-2016 year and taking 3rd for a National finish.  The coaches are an integral part of the team and the cohesiveness that they bring together with the players made a big impact on me in my deciding factors.  From playing hockey to now coaching for 20 years, Coach Petrusma demonstrates what it takes to be a leader in college coaching.  Additionally, when I had a chance to skate with the team and get to know the guys off the rink, I knew it would be a good fit for me.  I was welcomed right away and was treated as if I had known these guys for years.  The academics at Calvin sealed the deal.  I’m planning on a pre-med undergraduate and completing medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon.  When looking at other colleges, very few stood up to the success rate the Calvin has in the pre-med program. I know everything from faith to academics to athletics will be fostered and lead me to a successful college life at Calvin.”
