The Calvin College Knights are proud to officially announce the commitment of Ryan Rapata.

Ryan joins the Knights from the Lincoln-Way District Hockey Club.  Ryan previously earned All-Conference honors and was named Team MVP.  Last season he posted a 5.97 GAA in 31 games played while facing 1,272 shots (41 per game), the most in the league.

Head Coach Mike Petrusma had this to say about Ryan and his commitment to the Knights:

“I’m excited to have Ryan at Calvin.  We were looking for a couple of quality goalies to come in this season and compete for starts on both of our teams.  Ryan has been very eager and I know that he is willing to do what it takes to improve and compete at the most difficult position on the ice. He will bring a starters mentality and the experience of being the go-to guy.  That will serve him well as the season begins.”

Why did Ryan choose Calvin?

“I received an email from the hockey coach saying he might be interested in me.  I visited the campus and found it to be welcoming and friendly.  The size of the school was perfect and not too far from home.  I also liked that the college offers job placement.”
