The Calvin College Knights are proud to officially announce the commitment of Tanner Huizenga.

Tanner ended his high school career with an excellent individual season and he’s now looking to build on that in his freshman season with the Knights.  He had 20 goals and 16 assists in 25 games to lead the Eagles in scoring.  He was named OK All-Conference as well as Division 1 All-State Honorable Mention.  Additionally, he served as Assistant Captain for Hudsonville for the past two seasons.

Head Coach Mike Petrusma had this to say about Tanner and his commitment to the Knights:

“Tanner has a ton of potential as a player and is a very good athlete.  He’s a strong skater and has a knack for scoring.  Each time I’ve see him play, I grow more confident that he will have a big impact at Calvin.  I believe that the elevated level of play and intense practices will help him grow quickly as a player.”

Why did Tanner choose Calvin?

“My parents went to Calvin and really enjoyed their time there. Calvin will hopefully give me the opportunity to help me grow more mature in my faith. Also, Calvin hockey has a tradition of being very successful. It really seems like a place that people are passionate about and I can’t wait to be a Knight! #KnightNation”
